One of my clients remarked to me…
“It’s amazing, when I’m out at events and whatntot, people who I’ve never met before come up and act like they know me. Because they’re seeing my stuff on LinkedIn! And I’ve heard many times from people who tell me that they’re “seeing me everywhere.”
Going from a somewhat unknown service provider, and transforming into an industry leader, is something that everybody can do.
The only thing special about this client of mine is that they had the foresight to play the long game. Which actually, is quite special. Most people have a much more short term focus.
This client also understood one of the most fundamental principles of the psychology of marketing, sales and referrals.
The more times a prospect sees your name, the more they become familiar with you, the more they know you, the more they trust, and the more likely they will be to do business with. This is a proven social psychology principle.
So what is this BE EVERYWHERE marketing strategy?
I’m going to be talking more about the moving parts this week.
But first let’s talk about WHY this is the time to double down on this strategy.
Most of my clients and friends are telling me that right now there is a lot of uncertainty. AI, Tariffs, Inflation, etc, etc. And I’m hearing from a lot of people that “trust” is way down.
A lot of marketing that used to work isn’t working as well anymore. On top of that, prospects are taking longer to move forward, and delaying decisions due to uncertainty.
I believe this situation we are in makes it more important than ever to have a relationship building approach in your marketing. And to get even more in the weeds with your prospects.
If trust is way down…then you have to build deeper relationships. People don’t trust strangers, they trust people they know. We’ve all heard it before. Know, like and trust.
But just doing things the RIGHT way may still not be enough. After all, if sales conversions are down because prospects are delaying decisions…even people who trust you may still say “not yet.”
To combat that, the most simple thing you can do is ramp up volume. (Simple in concept, but getting a lot more leads may require a thoughtful strategy.)
If you used to get 1 sale out of 10 conversations, then maybe you now need 20.
Yes it will take more effort to get to the same number of sales. But the bottom line is that if your close rate is down, one thing to consider is getting in front of more people.
Of course you should also look at the bottom of the funnel, your sales process and offer. Are you making an irresistible offer with a risk reversal that makes it very hard for your prospect to say no?
These are all pieces of the puzzle.
If you can BE EVERYWHERE, it gives you a platform to accelerate trust, hit more numbers, and everything else.
When you have a strategy to get in front of thousands of prospects, and consistently stay in front of them in thoughtful ways…
…these people begin to see you as a leader. The more they become familiar with you, the more they know you, the more they trust, and the more likely they will be to do business with.
Soon I’ll be talking specifics on one way to achieve this. A strategy that almost anybody can do, regardless of budget.
Until then,
Josh
