Next week I’m launching a new training series, centered around best practices for leveraging AI in your sales and marketing.
The time is now to take AI very seriously. And I have some great resources and trainings to share with you. Keep an eye out for that. Just putting the final touches on everything.
Now…a warning about the WRONG way to do it. I think you’ll relate.
You see, most people know that you can automate:
prospecting
connection requests
messaging
and more…
…on LinkedIn.
(If you don’t yet have a solution for that, reply to this message and I’ll tell you what I recommend.)
But so many people are still getting it wrong.
Take this message from my friend Brian. It’s a great example of what not to do.
As I work for myself and don’t have my profile tied to a specific company page, my company shows up as “Self-employed” on LinkedIn.
Where Bryan went wrong, is he tried to get too fancy. He’s using a merge field to bring in {Company_Name} for each person he messages.
For many people he messages, this may work fine. But my guess is that a lot of people find it goofy. Just think of how many companies have long names, which people don’t really say out loud in conversation. They shorten it.
And so when you include the full company name in a message…it makes it pretty clear that it’s an automated message. Which makes it very easy to ignore.
People are MUCH more willing to respond to a message that they think was actually personally sent.
And so, the lesson here is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. With some things in the world of AI and automation, the more you try to get fancy, the more you will trip yourself up.
While we’re at it, I have another classic for you.
Honestly, I don’t have any pointers for this gentleman. I just think it’s a hilarious message.
That’s it. That’s the whole message.
Actually, I changed my mind. I do have some suggestions. Here are 2 pointers:
Number 1 - Ralph’s headline needs a lot of work. I have a headline formula that we’ve found to be effective. If you are interested, reply to this message and let me know.
Number 2 - The message itself is way too direct. Pitching people your offer isn’t going to work.
In summary, these kinds of things are what give LinkedIn a bad name. We all get bombarded with these kinds of messages.
But there is a better way. To not just automate LinkedIn, but to go even bigger than that. To transform your sales and marketing using AI.
Keep an eye out for more on this, starting this coming Monday.
Thanks,
Josh
